Gaia-ESO survey: Lithium abundances in open cluster Red Clump stars

چکیده

It has recently been suggested that all giant stars with mass below 2 $M_{\odot}$ suffer an episode of surface lithium enrichment between the tip red branch (RGB) and clump (RC). We test if above result can be confirmed in a sample RC RGB are members open clusters. discuss Li abundances six clusters ages 1.5 4.9 Gyr (turn-off masses 1.1 1.7 $M_{\odot}$). These observations compared predictions different models include rotation-induced mixing, thermohaline instability, mixing induced by first He flash, energy losses neutrino magnetic moment. In clusters, we find about 35\% similar or higher than those upper stars. This sign fresh production. Because extra-mixing connected to luminosity bump, expectation was for have systematically lower abundances. However, cannot confirm possible production is ubiquitous. For 65\% giants only determine abundance limits could hiding very low Our results indicate during RC, at levels would not classify as rich. Determination their carbon isotopic ratio help suffered extra followed enrichment. The qualitatively explained additional close flash.

Lithium abundances in exoplanet-host stars : modelling

Aims. Exoplanet-host stars (EHS) are known to present superficial chemical abundances different from those of stars without any detected planet (NEHS). EHS are, on the average, overmetallic compared to the Sun. The observations also show that, for cool stars, lithium is more depleted in EHS than in NEHS. The aim of this paper is to obtain constraints on possible models able to explain this diff...

Red Clump stars in the Boötes III stellar system

We report on the detection of a population of Red Clump (RC) stars probably associated with the recently discovered stellar system Boötes III. The RC is identified as a 3σ peak in the Luminosity Function (LF) of colour-selected stars extracted from the SDSS database. The peak is consistently detected in the g, r, i and z LFs at the expected luminosity of a typical RC at the distance of Boötes I...

Weighing the local dark matter with RAVE red clump stars

We determine the Galactic potential in the solar neigbourhood from RAVE observations. We select red clump stars for which accurate distances, radial velocities, and metallicities have been measured. Combined with data from the 2MASS and UCAC catalogues, we build a sample of ∼4600 red clump stars within a cylinder of 500 pc radius oriented in the direction of the South Galactic Pole, in the rang...

Asteroseismology of red-clump stars with CoRoTand Kepler

The availability of asteroseismic constraints for a large number of red giants with CoRoT and, in the near future with Kepler, paves the way for detailed studies of populations of galactic-disk red giants. We investigate which information on the observed population can be recovered by the distribution of the observed seismic constraints: the frequency of maximum power of solar-like oscillations...

Yields from Low Metallicity, Intermediate Mass Agb Stars: Their Role for the Cno and Lithium Abundances in Globular Cluster Stars

We present the results of extensive computation of the Thermal Pulse phase AGB evolution of stars of metallicities in mass fraction 2 10 ?4 Z 0:01, for those masses in the range 2:5 M=M 6, which suuer the Hot Bottom Burning (HBB) phase. The evolution is fully computed, by assuming a mass loss rate consistent with the observations of the Magellanic Clouds lithium rich stars, and modelling convec...
